Here is a status report from Councillor Katie Thornburrow about the handover of the new allotment sites in the southern fringe developments:

There are many things that could cause further delays, as you aware, but this is the current situation and anticipated handover dates. The Council has agreed that Dave can use the dates on his website, as long as it is made clear that there are many items to resolve still.

Clay Farm Allotments – The Lease is with Pemberton’s Solicitors, having been prepared and sent from the Council’s Legal team. The allotment plots are overgrown and these will be made good before transfer. Subject to the S106 agreement payment, Officers are pressing for a transfer for October.

Nine Wells – The Lease is with Hills, having been prepared and sent from the Council’s Legal Team. The allotment plots are overgrown and these will be made good before transfer. Officers are pressing for a transfer for October.

Glebe Farm Allotments – The Council’s Legal team have been instructed to pursue transfer as part of Glebe Farm general open space transfer currently with the developers solicitors. We are awaiting the draft documents back from the developer. Allotments deadline for completion mid-October.

Trumpington Meadows allotment – We are still awaiting commuted sum payment, and have the lease returned with modifications to the developer. The site is complete but very overgrown and the developer has agreed to arrange tidy of plots following transfer. The transfer is likely to be in October if not sooner.

10 weeks back the council issued this statement.

The new allotments will be let to people who have joined the waiting list over the past four years. Plots should be allocated according to this policy.
